Submetering System For Union Station

utiliVisor, a leading provider of submetering and energy plant oversight services for the purpose of increasing efficiency, is developing and implementing a state-of-the-art submetering system for the Union Station transit and retail complex in downtown Washington, DC.

A meticulously restored, historic, mixed-use, intermodal transportation and shopping center located just blocks from the U.S. Capitol Building, Union Station is one of the most iconic destinations in Washington, D.C. Retail tenants at Union Station include such national brands as H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Ann Taylor, Sugar Factory, Swarovski, MAC Cosmetics, Bluemercury, Chipotle, Pret A Manger, Chop’t, Shake Shack, Le Pain Quotidien, Papyrus, and Walgreens.

The utiliVisor solution for Union Station involves enterprise-wide submeter reading and utility cost control and review services. An initial engineering assessment will be performed to reconcile the existing submetering process, identify meters that may be broken or malfunctioning and to preform reference testing of the meters in place for accuracy. A monthly program will be implemented which includes meter reading, billing and auditing using utiliVisor’s sophisticated systems, applications and team of energy experts. The utiliVisor team has developed a monthly process to upload billings generated into the owner’s existing real estate management and accounting software. The firm will be reviewing and reconciling all property utility bills to ensure accuracy and quality control.

One of the unique features utiliVisor will be providing Union Station’s management team and its tenants will be a web based portal. utiliVisor’s web portal will provide access via a secure login where management can obtain real-time energy usage data from the field at any time via iPad and smartphone mobile applications. Retail tenants will also be provided with a custom computer dashboard where they will be able to access all submetered utility charges, as well as comprehensive utility profiles/consumption reports.

utiliVisor’s unique combination of applications, systems and personnel will provide Union Station with the latest submetering and utility accounting technologies,” said Tim Angerame, Chief Operating Officer at utiliVisor. “The end result is a customizable, expandable and dependable platform for the accurate analysis and billing of all tenant utility costs. The a system will also monitor energy usage in the buildings to determine energy conservation measures that can be implemented to cut future energy costs.
